I've always been a "walker" and have done two 1/2 marathons, many moons ago, many 5k walks and charity walks that really aren't about the distance. Now that age 65 is just around the corner, I feel I really need to do another 1/2 marathon. My favorite 1/2 Marathon location, would of course be Walt Disney World! Anyone that knows me, knows that I'm a true Disney freak. Lol
My son just completed his first ever 5k RUN and was totally pumped. I mentioned that doing the Disney 1/2 with him would be a lot of fun, and he was all for it. A mother son trip to Disney sounds exciting. My daughter, who has had knee surgery on both of her knees, would be a great addition to this family trip "around the world", but not sure how the knees would hold out for that distance. Fingers crossed that she'll be able to join in on the family fun trip.
Having 10 months to train properly is really a plus. Because I live where it's hot most of the time, early morning walks always work out best. Son goes to the gym every day and runs after work. Mom goes for a walk early morning. Each of us accountable to the other by way of the FitBit step counter. 10,000+ steps everyday sure gets the blood flowing.
Having just "officially" started training at the beginning of the month, we're not only racking up the weekly miles, but feeling better physically because we're "moving". Hopefully or should I say POSITIVELY by January 10th, 2015 we'll be ready for our adventure. TRAINING TOGETHER FROM AFAR isn't going to be that hard to do!
Until later, keep moving!
